MCO: Updates on our business operations (Updated 4 May 2020)

Updated: May the Fourth, 2020 - As announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Movement Control Order that has been in effect since 18 March will ease on May the Fourth, 2020. At this juncture, our teams will continue to operate remotely and our physical office remains closed until further notice. Certain operations are still not permitted during the Conditional Movement Control Order (such as filming activities) while we will re-assess any other operational matters that may be allowed to proceed. We will continue to operate as what we have outlined previously within this note.

Original Announcement:

17 March, 2020: Starting tomorrow, 18 March 2020, the Government of Malaysia has implemented a Movement Control Order (MCO) for Malaysia. All offices and non-essential premises across Malaysia are to close from 18 March - 31 March. (UPDATE: The MCO has been extended, first to 14 April and for a second time to 28 April 2020).

We have in place contingency plans and mitigation policies but we are now in a situation where these plans are escalated. Our physical office location is temporarily closed and our operations will now function remotely.

This note is to provide an update on our agency operations during this period.

  1. Our office will not receive any mail or packages until the MCO is lifted. At the same time, we would not be reachable on our main telephone lines. Our teams are still reachable via their mobile phones and we may be contacted online via Facebook Messenger (https://m.me/brandthink) and email.

  2. Our services operation continues to function without disruption, with our entire team working remotely. All ad operations, marketing operations and design studio operations continue to function and will not be impacted by the closure of our office.

  3. Our crisis communications team has scaled up our crisis response for all client teams, monitoring and evaluating the changing situation as it occurs. Each PR client will now receive communications planning based on current risk management posture. The objective is now focused on clear stakeholder communications and communicating business continuity to customers.

  4. Our internal and external meetings will occur online via Google Meet. Outside of Google Hangouts, we are able and ready to participate in meetings via other tools including Microsoft Teams, Skype and WebEx. However, we will not be able to participate via Zoom.

These are steps we are currently undertaking to ensure that any currently active projects will continue with minimal disruptions and to prepare for any scenarios that may occur.

Please know that we are vigilantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation around the clock and will act to revise any of the measures taken above to further mitigate any risk that is constantly changing.

“We recognise that these are unsettling times and we hope that together we can overcome the challenges that will come our way.”
