Happy International Women’s Day
A message from our General Manager:
Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, my thoughts linger with pride on all the amazing women in our team. Those in their 20s, 30s, the freshies, the odds-defiers, newlyweds, and new moms—all brimming with potential, crafting a path of their own.
My own career grew in an environment that values women's enterprise and entrusts them with great responsibility. 97% of our team are women. The sheer fact that this doesn't go unnoticed by associates, partners, and clients always leave me with a sense of pride.
I witnessed many milestones these brilliant women made in life—from stumbling through the journey of 'adulting' to becoming Mrs and being promoted to the ultimate title of "Mommy". All while still bringing great value professionally and working on the team's next big thing.
Yet, many women experienced their perceived value in their profession diminish as they grow in life. I see and hear stories from people who have experienced it with more hats at home and work. In the eyes of bright, ambitious young moms I interview, I see their concerns escape through their eyes, unfiltered from the confident front they project.
As a woman, I sometimes entertain the same thought, that I too will be perceived with diminishing value in my profession as I reach different milestones in life. A profoundly saddening thought.
This is why I see it as crucially important to dispel the notion that women will bring less value to their profession as we grow, far from it. As we mark new chapters in our lives, we gain new perspectives, unlock a new level of maturity, harness skills, understanding and heightened empathy like never before. Those are valuable.
That is why I am proud to be part of something that champions this. To see many women in my team and around me have that freedom to unlock the value in their own lives, inspiring others to do the same and championing the growth of that value. That's an enterprise worth celebrating.
Happy International Women's Day!
LS Chia, General Manager.
