Singapore bar, Jigger & Pony named ‘The Best Bar in Asia’ in Asia’s 50 Best Bars List 2020. 

Singapore, 14 May 2020 - Singapore’s local bar Jigger & Pony wins The Best Bar in Asia in the  ‘Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2020’ list after rising from the ninth place in 2019. They also win the Best Bar in Singapore award. Asia’s 50 Best Bars which was originally supposed to be held in Singapore for the third consecutive year at Capitol Theatre, was replaced with a virtual livestream on Thursday (14 May 2020) by the William Reed Business Media, which owns the ‘50 Best’ brand.   

For the 2021 Asia’s 50 Best Bars ceremony, 50 Best has also announced that it has confirmed its partnership with Singapore Tourism Board to bring Asia’s 50 Best Bars back to Singapore next year. Jean Ng, Executive Director, Attractions, Entertainment & Tourism Concept Development, Singapore Tourism Board says: “During these challenging times, it is more important than ever to celebrate the best in the business. We look forward to our continued partnership with 50 Best in 2021, when the region’s top bartenders return to our shores for Asia’s 50 Best Bars. These events will play a part in the industry’s recovery, and we are excited to welcome the world to experience Singapore’s vibrant nightlife offerings when the situation improves.”

#1 - Jigger and Pony 

Named after the double-coned measuring device used by bartenders to accurately pour out spirits, Jigger & Pony embraces the classics, the recipes for which used to be listed in “jiggers" and “ponies". Co-founded by Gan Guoyi and Indra Kantono, Jigger and Pony is a bar concept that specialises in thoughtful reimaginations of classic drinks. Innovative cocktails such as Mango Hazelnut Daiquiri and Mineral Vodka Soda feature alongside signatures such as its Ramos Gin Fizz. It first debuted on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list in 2016, and was ranked No.9 last year, winning the Highest Climber Award after rising 33 places in the list.

#8 - Manhattan Bar 

Inspired by the 19th century's Golden Age of fine drinking, Manhattan is a grand hotel bar where craft bartending meets artisanal spirits. The bar was also awarded with Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award this year. The craft cocktail journey extends to its unique rickhouse, used to finish whiskies and spirits, and to age bitters and single-cask cocktails.

#17 - Tippling Club 

Recognised for its innovative, ultra-progressive cuisine and cocktails, Tipping Club spans three shophouse units along 38 Tanjong Pagar Road. #22 - The Old Man Singapore 

The Old Man Singapore is a new entry to Asia’s 50 Best Bars list 2020 and is named London Essence Best New Opening. The unique bar concept is inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s iconic 1952 novel and is helmed by the head bartender and managing partner, Andrew Yap. The cocktails pay homage to Hemingway’s favourite libations, each executed with an Asian touch.

#23 - D.Bespoke

D.Bespoke is a Ginza-style speakeasy lounge that offers cocktails that are individually designed, with drinks customised to guests’ tastes. Deep, brown leather armchairs, refreshing hot towels and tea begin the experience, followed by bespoke minimalist cocktails made with great theatre.
